When Seattleites seek to imbibe, whether it\u2019s a high-end cocktail bar or a seedy dive, they often don\u2019t have to look far.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a bar popping up on every corner, which can be a blessing or a curse (blessing in our minds).<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s where we\u2019re heading on our nights off to avoid the overpriced and overpopulated bar scene, all within walking distance of The State in downtown Seattle.<\/p>\n

Sonja\u2019s<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n

This local watering hole offers well-poured and well-priced drinks by bartenders with, let\u2019s face it, a bit of attitude.<\/p>\n

But the rough-around-the-edges vibe is worth it for the summer patio seating and people watching.<\/p>\n

Best kept secret: Elliott Bay views from the back-bar area.<\/p>\n

E. Smith Mercantile Back Bar<\/strong>
\n<\/a><\/p>\n

With only a dozen seats or so, it\u2019s barely a bar.<\/p>\n

But if you\u2019re lucky enough to snag a stool at the E. Smith Mercantile Back Bar, well then you\u2019re in for a treat of seasonal and herbaceous cocktails.<\/p>\n

Kill two birds with one stone: this spot, deemed \u201cSeattle\u2019s Retail Mullet,\u201d is the perfect spot for curating hip souvenirs, all American made and crafted by artisans.<\/p>\n

Damn the Weather<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

This may come as a shock, but it rains in Seattle.<\/p>\n

Like, a lot.<\/p>\n

Retreat from our crappy weather and into Damn the Weather in Pioneer Square for a Japanese whisky or our personal favorite, the Uppfriska, with fresh cucumber and Aquavit.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just as good for you as eating a salad. Promise.<\/p>\n

List<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cheap wine on the mind?<\/p>\n

Twenty bucks at List restaurant in Belltown will get you a happy hour bottle of wine, including tax and tip.<\/p>\n

They also feature a separate champagne cocktail menu (um, yes please) and a full menu of delights like spicy meatballs and sea salt and pepper calamari.<\/p>\n

Zig Zag<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Although it\u2019s just down the street from Pike Place Market, Zig Zag is generally packed with locals slurping up craft cocktails and devouring fried pork skins.<\/p>\n
